Devlog 1 - Minor Changes
So here we are after these short two weeks and i am happy to say that i've got a good amount of thing changed in this time, granted it's still less than i wanted to do initially but it's already something.
So let's get started then.
Fixes and Features:
1 - Game Loop: The major change in this little update is the overhaul i did in the Game Loop, it is now organized in a way a can manage scene changes, transitions and scripts to stop and resume gameplay better. There is still a lot to do in the main loop but getting this done now will make it easier to build the game structure in a more cohesive way.
2 - Visual Changes: I thought i wouldn't change anything in this regard so soon but the camera angle was really taking my focus out of what the game was meant to be so i had to get something done, because of this i decided to change the camera positioning and implement a transition animation so the game could be less of an eyesore during development.
3 - Gameplay: Finally added a second type of functional boon, the "Attack Effect Boon", and i think this one is self explanatory.
Future Updates and After Thoughts:
For the next update i wanted to get started on the save and load system for the game. This will allow me to create a "landmark" file with achievments and unlocks to build the game around and with it i'll probably have to make a main menu to setup the loading.
Also i'm realizing now that i'll not be able to avoid the art and modeling character for long because of the attack system. The way things are working now, the character are executing a direct attack to it's enemy, dealing damage and executing functions, but if i want to give any kind of direct controll to the player in the future i might have to change into a collision based attack system, it would be a much more complex system but would be more flexible gameplay-wise.
Sadly i had less time than i imagined initially for this update but hopefully the next update will be more productive than this one. Overall i'm happy with the changes that got done for the update and i think it's already a radical change from the 1.0v.
I might drop a few devlogs before the update to show how things are going but for now i'll not promisse anything.
Till the next update.
